KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) -

Police officers charged a Kingsport man with attempted second degree murder after an apparent stabbing at a home on Derby Drive.

The Kingsport Police Department arrested Jeremiah L. Byington, 28, yesterday. According to officers, Sam Ireson, Jr. was stabbed three times. Police said Ireson told them Byington was the man who stabbed him.

Police said Ireson told detectives that Byington's wife came to his home after she and Byington got into an argument. According to officers, Ireson told police that Byington then came over to his home and stabbed him in the hip. Investigators said Ireson told them he was stabbed two more times after Byington allegedly threatened his life.

Police said Ireson was taken to a local hospital where he is expected to survive.
