Pigeon Forge, TN -

Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers will deliver some of the tightest family harmonies in the music industry before the night sky lights up with July 4 fireworks at Patriot Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Patriot Festival is a free, city-sponsored afternoon and evening of music, kids' games, food vendors and, of course, a spectacular pyrotechnic show. The towering ridges of Great Smoky Mountains National Park provide the backdrop for the event.

Larry, Steve and Rudy Gatlin won their first talent contest in 1954 in their hometown of Abilene, Texas, when they were ages six, four and two.

Since then, they have recorded a major string of hits – including the No. 1 single "Broken Lady" – and performed around the world. They became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1976.

Patriot Festival will fill Patriot Park in the heart of Pigeon Forge. Other musical performers are Hotel California "A Salute to the Eagles," the country and gospel Shelby Huskey Band and the Pigeon Forge Community Chorus.

A kids' play area and food vendors open at noon, and the music begins at 1:30 p.m. The Gatlins' appearance is at 8:30 p.m., and the fireworks start at 9:45 p.m.

The 20-minute fireworks show, one of Tennessee's largest for Independence Day, will be visible throughout Pigeon Forge, and Knoxville radio station WIVK-FM will broadcast a soundtrack to accompany the show.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen. Proceeds from sales at the various food vendors support local non-profit organizations.

Handicapped parking will be available at Patriot Park. Other parking will be at the city's parking facility on Teaster Lane. Guests who park there can hop a free Fun Time Trolley to the festival or walk the Pigeon Forge Greenway along the Little Pigeon River to Patriot Park.

Information about all aspects of visiting Pigeon Forge is available online at MyPigeonForge.com or by calling toll-free to 1-800-251-9100.
