Washington Co., TN inmate dies from apparent "self-inflicted injuries"; TBI investigating

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

An investigation is underway after the death of a Washington County, Tennessee Detention Center inmate late Monday night.

According to a press release from the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Office, Aaron Michael Bever, 29, Dunedin, Florida, died at the Johnson City Medical Center from what deputies call a "self-inflicted injury." The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed Bever hung himself in his jail cell.

The Sheriff's Office says Bever was in the Detention Center on charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

The TBI says investigators are looking into what led up to Bever's death.
