BUTLER, TN (WJHL) -

Watauga Lake is higher than it's ever been, according to TVA spokesman Travis Brickey.

News Channel 11 found that the lake is causing flooding in some areas, like the Shook Branch Swimming Area and the Bay View Campground in Butler.

TVA is releasing water to prevent flooding downstream.

Brickey says the lake is measuring 1966.2 feet at it's deepest point.

The previous record of 1963.3 was set in April 1987.
