CLAYTON, N.C. -

Clayton police have arrested a Johnston County man after police say he tried to rape a woman in a parking lot.

Police say the incident happened around 6 a.m. Saturday, April 6 in a business parking lot on Highway 70 Business.

A 38-year-old woman who worked at the business told authorities that a man with a bag over his face walked up to her car as she stopped in the parking lot. The victim said the man forced her into her car where he tried to rape her.

The victim was able to fight off the attacker, who has been identified as 44-year-old Kenneth Dobbins.

Dobbins was arrested on Sunday and charged with first degree attempted forcible sex offense and first degree kidnapping.

Dobbins is being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $300,000 secured bond.
