POUND, VA (WJHL) -

A 9-year-old boy died Wednesday when an ATV he was driving flipped and landed on him. The wreck happened in Wise County in a wooded area behind a residence on Wilderness Path Road in Pound, VA.

Virginia State Police said Austin Bowman was last seen around 1 p.m. and was reported missing around 4 p.m.

A K-9 search led to Bowman's body. He had been driving an ATV and apparently lost control of it. The vehicle crashed and landed on top of him.

Authorities say Bowman was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation.
