Dozens arrested in Lee County during massive drug roundup

The Lee County, Va. Sheriff's Department hit the streets early Tuesday morning for a massive drug roundup.

After 50 indictments were handed down, dozens of officers arrested alleged drug dealers throughout the county shortly after 7 a.m.

Sheriff Gary Parsons says these high number busts get a variety of drugs off the street.

While law enforcement may never be able to win the war on drugs, they say this is proof they are winning bigger battles.

"It has more of an impact on the drug dealing community when you do a huge roundup like this," says Sheriff Gary Parsons, "it seems to really slow things down for quite a while."

Tuesday's arrests dealt mostly with prescription medication, as well as cocaine, marijuana, and meth.
