Storm Team 11 Weather: Strong/Severe Storms on the Way...

Posted: Updated:
JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - The Storm Team 11 Forecast:

Two rounds of showers and thunderstorms are on the way for the Tri-Cities today. The first looks to continue through the late morning/early afternoon hours. After a break in the action, the second looks to come through late afternoon through the overnight. Severe weather is also a possibility with the second round.

Our primary threats for severe weather will be high winds and hail. Heavy rain, and as a result flash flooding, is also a possibility. An isolated tornado is can’t be ruled out today either. With any thunderstorms, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is possible.

The strong cold front that is causing these storms will pass through by early Monday. We’ll see a big drop off in temperatures by Monday with highs only close to 80 degrees. A few lingering showers are possible on Monday, but Tuesday and Wednesday look to be mainly dry. Highs for the middle of the week look to be on either side of 80 with lows in the low 50s. A few showers/storms may return to the Tri-Cities by the end of the week with temperatures remaining in the low 80s.

Have a great day!
