Widespread power outages in Johnson City

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.

As of 4:30 p.m. the Johnson City Power Board (JCPB) estimates 300 customers remain without electrical service. Crews have worked continuously since the storm first hit more than 24 hours ago.

Labor intensive work combined with the high heat index has made the crews weary; however, they will continue their efforts through 9 p.m. tonight. Outages remaining after then will be repaired on Saturday morning when crews return to work at 7 a.m.

Anyone still without power after 9 tonight is encouraged to call 282-JCPB (5272) to ensure JCPB’s outage reporting remains accurate and up to date. JCPB is thankful for the enduring patience of those affected while remaining ever mindful of the safety of its employees and customer/owners.

---------------

According to J.T. McSpadden of the Johnson City Power Board, fourteen thousand JCPB customers are without power.

Crews are out fixing/replacing the seven power poles reportedly broken. McSpadden asks customers to be patient, saying that those repairs do take time to complete.

If you are experiencing a power interruption, McSpadden says call the JCPB automated attendant: 282-JCPB (5272)
