U.S. Marshal Service sets reward amount for missing teen, sex offender

The U.S. Marshal Service set a reward amount for the safe return of missing Surgoinsville teen Hayleigh Wilson, and the capture of Benjamin Shook, the sex offender police say she's with.

Saturday night, the U.S. Marshal Service announced a reward, and Sunday they set the amount at $5,000.

Police believe Shook, a 41 year old sex offender, lured 14 year old Wilson from her home after the two met online.

An AMBER Alert was issued Wednesday.

Authorities said they believe Wilson is wearing a sleeveless flowery top, with dark capri length pants. Authorities said they believe Shook is wearing a blue shirt, dark shorts and dark tennis shoes. They said he has multiple tattoos on body and a partially shaved beard.

Anyone with information about where the two might be is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-877-WANTED-2.

Law enforcement has also asked anyone with cabins, campers, or other buildings in the mountains of Grayson, Smyth, Wythe, and surrounding Southwest Virginia counties, to check their property for any signs that Wilson and Shook may have passed through.
