Southern Justice star could be working in the Tri-Cities soon

CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - A North Carolina officer featured on the popular show "Southern Justice" could soon be patrolling the Tri-Cities.

The name Joshua Hopkins may sound familiar as he has spent the past five years as a deputy in Ashe County and gained popularity for his role in the National Geographic show.

Earlier this week, Hopkins announced he'll be leaving the Tarheel state for a new job.

Carter County Sheriff Dexter Lunceford told us today Hopkins has applied for a job at his department.

Lunceford said Hopkins has had an interview and has passed the civil service test, but he has not been formally employed.

Ashe County Sheriff James Williams confirmed that Hopkins will be leaving the department in October.
