Johnson City man charged with aggravated stalking, false reporting of child abuse

News Channel 11 Staff - JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - The Johnson City Police Department arrested a man on aggravated stalking and false reporting charges.

Officers arrested 37-year-old Anthony Carlton on Wednesday and charged him with four counts of aggravated stalking and two counts of false reporting of child abuse.

On June 28, 2015, police began investigating a stalking and harassment case involving a victim and her family.

Police were able to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Carlton.

Investigators say they also linked calls, in August 2015, from Carlton to the Department of Children's Services hotline making allegations of child sexual abuse involving the victim.

Detectives determined Carlton was behind the call and knowingly reported the false reports as a form of harassment against the victim.

Wednesday, Carlton was arrested by the Unicoi County Sheriff's Department and transported to Johnson City where he was arrested and served with warrants.

He is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in Washington County General Sessions Court.
