JOHNSON CITY, TN- ETSU safety Ryan Powers (Jupiter, Fla.) will represent the Buccaneers in the 2016 FCS National Bowl, which will be played this Sunday, Dec. 4 at Daytona Beach Stadium. Sunday's game is set to kickoff at 1:30 p.m., and will be streamed through AudibleSports.net.
Powers, a graduate student, started in 10 games for the Buccaneers this season, totaling 70 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and one forced fumble. The Jupiter, Fla. native posted four double-digit tackle games, including a season-high 12 on Nov. 5 at Mercer. Powers led ETSU in tackles three times, which included a pair of 11-tackle games in wins over Kennesaw State and Cumberland.
Powers transferred to ETSU from Stetson where he recorded 221 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, one sack, nine interceptions, 16 pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, seven forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 34 games for the Hatters.
Powers will play for the National Team, which is coached by Mike Stock. Each roster features 56 players.
