Case of former Jonesborough employee charged with sex crimes bound over to criminal court

JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) - A former Jonesborough employee charged with sex crimes against a child made his first appearance in court Wednesday.

Stacey Canter, the former assistant director of solid waste in Jonesborough, was charged with two counts of rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery.

Police arrested Canter last Thursday and the Town of Jonesborough fired him the same day.

Court reports show that Canter had four encounters with the juvenile victim.

His case was bound over to criminal court, where he was scheduled to appear on Sept. 23.
