Greeneville mom accused of pouring boiling water on child after using meth

Greeneville, TN (WJHL) - A Greeneville woman is accused of pouring boiling water on her child after using meth.

Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins said Ashley Dawn Randolph, 24, Fodder Stack Mountain Loop, is accused of Aggravated Child Neglect.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Greene County Deputy went to Laughlin Hospital late Sunday afternoon after getting a report that a child had been burned.

The report says Randolph admitted to a deputy that she used meth earlier in the day before giving her 23-month-old daughter a bath around 2 pm.

"She stated that she could not get the water hot so she boiled a pot of hot water to put in the tub," the arrest affidavit states.  "She poured it on the child's legs and feet causing second-degree burns to the child."

The report says Randolph took the child to the hospital at around 5:30 pm for treatment of the burns.

Sheriff Hankins said the child is now in the custody of the Department of Children's Services.

Randolph is in the Greene County jail where she is being held on a $50,000 bond.
