Carter County Sheriff's Office: Body discovered in Watauga River

CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) - Officials with the Carter County Sheriff's Office confirmed with News Channel 11 a body was discovered in the Watauga river Sunday afternoon. 

According to Public Information Officer with the sheriff's office, Thomas Gray, a man's body was discovered by people fishing in the river. 

The call about that discovery came in around 1:15 p.m. Sunday in the area of Sycamore Shoals Drive. 

Gray said the man's body had not yet been identified, and that it would be sent to ETSU for an autopsy. 

This is the second body pulled out of the Watauga River in less than a month.
