Dog wash hosted to benefit area K9 officers

Folks brought their canine companions to a benefit dog wash in Johnson City Saturday afternoon.The dog was was set up to raise money to buy extra equipment for K9 police dogs in the Tri-Cities area.Pet owners could also try out various natural pet products at the event, and there were also some dogs up for adoption, ready to find their forever homes.Copyright WJHL 2014. Tweetsie Trail Trek celebrates the trail's grand opening

Many folks in Johnson City and Elizabethton kicked off the Labor Day holiday weekend with the opening of the Tweetsie Trail Saturday morning.The Tweetsie Trail Trek, three races for bikers, walkers, and runners, marked the opening of the brand new ten mile hiking and biking trail that connects the two cities.In all, about 2,000 people were registered to participate in Saturday's events that began in Elizabethton in the morning and continued into the afternoon in Johnson City.Copyright WJHL 20... Five people arrested on drug charges in Sullivan County

Five people were arrested after Sullivan County authorities said they were involved in drug activity, including selling a drug known as “gravel” close to a Kingsport school.According to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, deputies found baggies of a substance they believe to be “gravel” at Darrell Larkins' home.
